Suikaen "Emi" Pink Chasen
Just in from Japan! Emi 笑, meaning "smile" in Japanese, is the name of this chasen featuring a sakura cherry blossom charm. This elegant whisk by Suikaen is made to brighten your mood while making matcha.
This exquisite "White" bamboo chasen is crafted using centuries-old Japanese techniques that naturally fade bamboo from green to its distinctive pale hue. Sourced from premium bamboo grown in the Kinki region of Japan (Nara, Kyoto, Osaka, Wakayama), each piece undergoes meticulous processing: harvested after 2–3 years of growth, boiled to remove natural oils, air-dried through cold winter months, then aged for an additional 2–3 years to achieve its refined color and durability.
Handcrafted in Takayama, the historical birthplace of matcha whisks with over 500 years of tradition, this authentic chasen is produced at the renowned Suikaen studio. Suikaen, led by 25th-generation master craftsman Tanimura Yasuburo, remains among the few workshops committed to preserving the ancient art of whisk making. Today, approximately 90% of Japan’s matcha whisks originate from this celebrated region.
